2nd IKKER – Interregional Culinary Cup of European Regions

On IKKER’s first day, on February 19, all competitors took a written test in French terminology and world cuisine. During afternoon, all participants enjoyed the Master Class workshop about restaurant desserts, performed by pastry chefs Eleonora Rekeča and Marija Vickov from Le Méridien Lav hotel in Split.

The second day, on February 20, brought grand finale at IKKER 2016, announcement of the best chefs!

In a presence of Mayor of Makarska Tonći Bilić and other guests from Montenegro, Macedonia, Serbia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Slovakia, Italy and Croatia, top chefs competed in preparing two dishes:

  • appetizer made with Adriatic tuna from Kali on Ugljan island, and Adriatic shrimps;
  • main course made with lamb loin and pork fillet

Competitors brought great ideas, original recipes, performance and presentation, not to mention taste of their dishes!

Jury was selected by president of ACMER Željko Neven Bremec. Presided by Stevo Karapandža, members of the jury were

Chef Antun Nišević had a task to sneak-peak in all pots and pans, and to comment with the audience.

Sponsors of the competition and theme dinners were Meat Industry Pivac, Centaurus, Apfel, Kali Tuna, Stina Wine, Trenton, Hotel Miramare, Tourist Board of Makarska, and city of Makarska.

Many credits go to students of Makarska high school for their help to ACMER’s members and Hotel Miramare staff to make everything goes smoothly.

Programs attracted great attention of hospitality industry and restaurant owners from Riviera Makarska, but also of officials like Split-Dalmatian County Tourist Board director Joško Stella. Competition also had drawn big media attention, with dozens of reporters, cameramen and photographers.

As the sole female competitor Ružica Jukičić received a special recognition.

Special recognition for the best written test went to Marc Pavel, who won a weekend for two in Marina Frapa Hotel. Award was handed by the hotel’s manager Jure Mul.

Toni also received, and brought back home to Split beautiful trophy, sculpture Simply the Best!

All competitors also received the Salt Flower from Ramova salt farm.

Wonderful Dalmatian Dinner was prepared by Marija Lulić, Hrvoje Zirojević, Goran Staničić, Hrvoje Bekavac and ACMER’s members, with music performance by Berulia klapa. Evening went on with Montenegrin dinner, prepared by the best Montenegro’s chefs under leadrship of Bogdan Krsmanović. Women from Budva prepared traditional desserts, and klapa Harmonija also from Budva created a unique atmosphere.

Montenegro hosts in Budva were Slavica and Vuko Mitrović.
