Diocletian’s Amphora is a chefs’ competition taking place in Split.
Diocletian’s Amphora started in 2005. This competition of professional chefs was designed to re-think local dishes and recipes, aiming to increase usage of traditional cuisine in restaurants in Split area.
- Branding Split as a destination of gourmet excellence;
- Creating new dishes based on traditional ingredients;
- Enrich assortment in restaurants in Split;
- Improvement of chefs’ expertise and competence.

The 2017 competition will include two categories on the theme of Dalmatian cuisine
Competitors can participate in one or both categories. Chef dishes are prepared “live”, each meal is served on 2 identical plates – one for exhibitions and the other for jury.
With each meal, it must be the name of a meal and a recipe.
Each of these categories is scored individually and rewarded. Among those contestants participating in both categories, the winers of Diocletian’s amphora are chosen. The total winners of the first three places will win the cup and special prizes.
