Let's cook together: workshops for parents and children

Over the past years the way children, young people and adults live has changed a great deal, and with it their eating habits and the amount of waste they produce. More and more children and adults face obesity because they sit for long hours, spend too much time in front of screens and move less outdoors. Family meals together are becoming rarer, while food is more and more often ready made, pastries and sweets eaten away from home.
The project “KUHAJMO ZAJEDNO” (Let us cook together) was designed to strengthen family ties and to build the cooking skills of children aged 6 to 17, who take part together with their parents. The workshop offers a full education programme on why good nutrition matters, on the principles of the zero waste approach, and on bringing people together by preparing and eating a meal as a family.
Participants get to build practical skills such as dexterity, speed, precision and creativity, guided by professional chefs. They learn to recognise and choose healthy ingredients, to sort waste properly and to take on the principles of caring for the environment. Every participant receives the tools and materials they need, and the workshops include preparing a meal as a team, setting the table and enjoying the meal together.
The project “KUHAJMO ZAJEDNO” is more than an education workshop. It is a call to change the way we approach food and the environment. The aim is to give family meals their value back, to keep the food tradition of Dalmatia alive, to build healthy habits and to develop a sense of responsibility towards nature and the community.
