A large number of children and youth train recreationally or competitively, and parents are keen to participate in educational programs on providing young athletes with the best balanced and nutritionally rich meals—precisely what an athlete truly needs to consume. For healthy development and optimal athletic performance, the right “recipe” is necessary: tailoring nutrition to match training schedules, the specific sport, and the intensity of physical activity. In collaboration with Dragan Olujić, MSc in Nutrition, and Ante Jurić, a kinesiologist and kinesiotherapist (both actively engaged with HNK Hajduk), the project “Recipe for Sporting Success” is being implemented.

Through this project, we aim to ensure that children and youth who are actively involved in sports have an appropriate diet and regimen that supports the development of positive dietary habits and the preservation of health by ensuring optimal intake of nutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water) to ultimately achieve the best sports results.

Sports nutrition must be well-organized and planned, varied, and emphasize meeting the increased energy and nutritional needs of athletes in comparison to non-athlete children. For both young athletes and their parents, it is essential to properly organize nutrition. Homemade, nutritious, smaller meals that can be taken to school, eaten before or after training in the car, or during trips to competitions, can also benefit parents in improving their own nutrition.

The objective of these workshops is to provide parents—and, indirectly, young athletes—with guidelines for preparing nutritionally adequate supplementary meals as recommended by experts. Parents will learn how to assemble a balanced and diverse daily menu of five or six meals and how to distribute all nutrients (proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, water) throughout the day to optimally meet the needs of athletic children, support their health, and consequently enable better sports performance.

WORKSHOP TOPICS:
– Breakfast: planning and selection of breakfast foods
– Pre-training and recovery meals: natural “supplements”
– Lunch and dinner
– Preparation for competition and competition day

Workshop fee: 250 EUR per participant.
